Simon and June Warburton own Enford farm which
consists of 300 acres of pastureland incorporating a secluded valley
and river meadows. We run a suckler herd comprising 62 Saler X or
Charollais X cows plus followers, as well as a flock of 150
Charollais X sheep. The calves are naturally weaned at 7 months old
and then finished on grass.
We ran a traditional farm until converting to organic in 2000. In
2002 we installed a cutting and cold room allowing us full control
over our meat processing. We believe that the beef should be hung
for a minimum of three weeks before being cut to allow for a mature
flavour and tenderness, notice the taste in our 100% beefburger,
also that it should be affordable.
Our meat can be bought from Poundbury (Dorchester) Dorset Farmers’
Market held on the first Saturday of each month or from the farm
gate by appointment. Mail order is also available for ¼ lamb
(approx. £34.00), ½ lamb (approx. £67.00) and beef packs from £75.00
(approx. 8kgs). Free local (10miles radius) delivery.
